STUDENTS AT SCIENCE FESTIVAL

LEWES 6th Form College on Saturday sent a team of science gurus to the Brighton Science Festival.

The festival aims to introduce children to science.

The team directed their focus on Chemistry in the Kitchen.

Demonstrations included tasting of food that was coloured to disguise it, and the production of sorbet, using liquid nitrogen, with samples being passed out to the audience.

Curriculum leader Les Simmons said: 'Our participation was a way of showing the fun to be had when scientific phenomena are encountered outside the laboratory.

'The young audience relished joining in to discover the close links between the taste, smell and appearance of food.'
