Stirring night of patriotic music in aid of Wings Appeal

A performance by the Royal Air Forces Association President's Band is one to delight audiences which enjoy stirring and patriotic music.

This is a successful and talented band that performs to a high standard, and is comprised of approximately forty talented musicians, including ex-RAF and military band musicians, music teachers, and many from all walks of life who play for simply for enjoyment.

They rehearse every week at RAF Northolt in Middlesex but are once again making the trip to the south coast to perform for the Bexhill RAFA branch and provide an evening of excitement, nostalgia, and pride.

It's an evening of classic pieces, familiar tunes and moments to make the heart beat that little faster as listeners are rewarded with favourites such as William Walton's Spitfire Prelude and Eric Coates' famous Dambusters March, and ending with a Last Night of the Proms type finale.

The musical director is Peter Stockdale MBE.

The Bexhill RAFA branch holds this concert evening every year to raise money for its Wings Appeal.

This time the concert, which celebrates the 70th Anniversary of the Battle Of Britain, will be held on Saturday June 19 at St Augustine's church in Cooden Drive from 7.30pm.

There will be 250 seats available and tickets are on sale at the Bexhill Observer front office and the Bexhill RAFA Albatross Club - costing 10 each.
