SCHOOLBOY HURT IN CRASH

A THIRTEEN-year-old schoolboy was rushed to hospital with a serious leg injury this morning (March 7)after being in collision with a Rover car on the A272 at Chailey.

The accident happened at 8.10am as the boy, who also suffered a minor head injury, was trying to cross the busy road some 300 yards east of the Chailey cross-roads in order to catch his bus to Chailey Secondary School.

The Rover was being driven by a woman from Uckfield.

The police helicopter was called out but not used. The road was partly closed until 9.10am and diversions were in force.
