Rye dinner raises £24k for Teenager Cancer Trust

Mike and Pascale O’Leary and Tony Elliot organized the dinner, an annual event for a number of years which in total has raised more than £300,000.

Mike says they are all delighted the event was once again a great success.

“We are very grateful to everyone who has supported us so generously,” he said.

“I am sorry to announce that this will be our last annual fundraiser.

“But I know that there is a great deal of local support for Teenage Cancer Trust – which is such a worthy cause – so we are hopeful that other local people will take on the challenge and continue to hold events to support this incredible charity.”

Guests enjoyed a three-course meal, bid on auction prizes and made donations to the charity throughout the evening at The Wife of Bath restaurant in Wye.

Jade McShane, regional fundraiser from Teenage Cancer Trust says they are really proud of the Rye committee and everything they have achieved.

“We are very grateful to them for the huge effort they have put into this event every year,” he said.

Teenage Cancer Trust opened its state-of-the-art specialist cancer unit for young cancer patients aged 14 to 24 from Sussex, Surrey and Kent at the Royal Marsden in Surrey in January, 2012.
