Rye charity hasset up excitingnew venture

The project has seen a redundant swimming pool building at the old Freda Gardham School converted into a furniture warehouse and restoration unit.

Sales of donated furniture will help support the charity which provides respite care, activities and therapies for disabled adults in the Rye area.

Irna Mortlock, from ARRCC said: “Andy McConnell and his wife Helen are long time supporters of ARRCC and raise funds throughout the year from their shop in Rye.

“Andy spoke of how important it is to support the local community and, despite the fact that less funding is available, Grace O’Neill and her team continue to find ways to raise funds.

“The next project is to raise £6,000 to buy a box van to collect and deliver the furniture.

“Jacky Barker, Independent Living Coordinator, has taken on the mammoth task of finding furniture to sell in the warehouse to raise much needed funds by selling to local people in Kent and East Sussex.

Amber Rudd then spoke of the benefits that this project will bring to the local area, jobs, volunteering opportunities and of course reasonably priced furniture and electrical goods.

“The Warehouse is open from Monday to Friday from 9am until 1pm. Please contact ARRCC if you would like to come at a different time or have furniture to donate.”
