Kaeren Sykes of the crime management unit at Bognor Regis police station said: "This bike is considered to be quite rare in the UK as it was imported from America.

Meanwhile, a spate of garage break-ins around Bognor Regis saw burglaries happening at the rate of one a day.

One cul-de-sac has been targeted five times. Items stolen include cycles and tools.

Police patrols have since been increased in the affected area, mainly around North Bersted, and the number of the crimes has dropped to a few a week.

Inspector John Merrick, of Bognor police station, said the extra activity would be maintained until those responsible were caught.
