Pupils' designs go up in lights

Two artistic children will be lighting up Christmas in Bognor Regis this year.

Thea Huxley and Laura Coman will see their festive illuminations brought to life this Saturday above the town centre. The Rose Green Infant School pupils were chosen as the winners of a competition to create a Christmas illumination.

The perspex displays, which measure about 5ft by 5ft, will be sited on the Abbey and Bon Marche branches.

They will be switched on during Saturday's celebrations of Christmas in the town centre.

Excited Thea (7) and Laura will be in the crowd watching their big moment.

Thea said: "I like Christmas puddings so that's why I drew one.

"I really like the illumination and I am proud of my work."

Laura was similarly pleased with her finished design. "It looks like a real angel," she said.

Headteacher Suzanne Carter said: "The competition gives the children a purpose for drawing. The fact the displays are going to be lit up in the town makes it very special as well."

This is the second year the competition has been held by the town council and the second year in which Rose Green Infant School pupils have won it.
