A reserved matters application, which sets out the detailed layout and design of the homes, has been submitted to the council for what is called Phase 1A.

To the east on the other side of Rusper Road would be the new Bohunt school and the village centre to the south.

According to the application: “Central to the vision for the masterplan is the principle of creating community, and this is reflected in a concept of three ‘villages’ anchored around contrasting but complementary hubs of activity, the first village being Phase 1.

“These will support daily life, reduce the need to travel further afield, and serve as points of interaction that will help the new community to establish, grow and endure.

“The integration of the natural environment, and landscape qualities that the site already supports and displays, will be a defining objective in shaping the character of the new neighbourhoods.”

Of the 193 new homes, 29 would be flats and the remaining 164 houses.

A total of 25 units would be affordable, equating to 12.6 per cent.
