Police on look-out for "morning-after" drivers

WATCH out for the "morning after" effect - because we will be. That's the message from police.

The Sussex Police Roads Policing Unit is reinforcing its message to drivers about the dangers of driving the morning after consuming alcohol.

"Many motorists are unaware of the effects of alcohol and are driving the following day with potentially illegal levels of alcohol still in their system. This problem is compounded as the Christmas period progresses and drivers consume higher levels of alcohol than they would in a normal evening out.

"Roads Policing Unit officers will be conducting regular checks throughout the morning commute to work in order to educate and help deter this activity.

"All drivers involved in a collision in Sussex will be breath-tested whatever time of day it is, so drivers are advised to consider their early morning commitments before consuming alcohol the night before."
