With the Spring Equinox on Wednesday, we shall really notice the longer days. Working in the garden can continue until nearly 7 pm already. There were bats hunting along the tree line in the dusk last week so they think that it is warm enough to wake up after the winter.

The orders are coming in for the Quiz and Fish and Chip Supper on 31st March, so do let me have your bookings as soon as you can please. Teams of 4 - 6, no more please, start time 7.30 pm, cost £7.50. And remember your condiments, cutlery, chosen drink and glasses.

The Mobile Library will be at Poppyfield on Monday from 11.30 to 11.50.

The Rye and District Camera Club will be meeting in the W. I. Hall on Monday 19th at 7.30 pm for a Members’ Challenge.

Tomorrow being St. Patrick’s Day, how many shamrocks can you spot?

The Friends of Rye Harbour have a talk on Saturday 17th March entitled “Extreme Mothing”. This is an illustrated talk by Graeme Lyons with some of the more exciting moth-related stories which Graeme and other moth-ers have experienced over the last 20 years. It takes place at Winchelsea Beach Community Hall at 7.30 pm. Open to all, donations appreciated.

The Rye and District branch of the National Trust has a walk on Thursday 22nd March. Meet at The New Inn, Winchelsea for a circular 3.5 or 7 mile walk. Lunch will be taken in Rye. Mid-week services are at 9.30 am - Morning prayer, and 3.30 pm - Evening prayer ,on Tuesday.

This Sunday is Mothering Sunday. The 11 am service will be a Family Service, when little posies of flowers will be distributed.
