Playden

This intermittent Village Voice will occur when there is something happening in Playden which I know about. This is only until another person would like to take over. It is delightful that Gill is doing so well in Iden.

Do you think we are going to have a ‘proper’ winter? Wet, warm and windy is not really right for this time of year. I have snowdrops out, and there are lots of early daffodils in flower.

But I am really writing to invite lots of Friends to a splendid, spooky evening of Ghost Stories. This will be held in the Playden W. I. Hall on Saturday 15th February at 7.30 pm. Those who were able to come before found it a most enjoyable evening.

This year Phillipa Urquhart will tell three stories, one of which is called The Doll’s Ghost and is specifically for younger members of the audience. The other two will be suitably ghostly, namely Dracula’s Guest and To Let, set in British India.

Supper will be served during an interval, and will consist of Soup and a Ploughman’s Plate. This can be a vegetarian option if you wish.

It is ESSENTIAL THAT YOU BOOK YOUR PLACE SO THAT CATERING CAN BE ORGANISED. Please phone Viv on 01797 224 606 or me on 01424 815 247.

Tickets are £8 and can be paid for at the door, children £4.50. Bring your own chosen drink and cutlery.

There will be a splendid Raffle too.

This is sure to be a very good way of enjoying a winter evening, organised by the Friends of Playden Church. Do come.

If there is anything imminent and no regular correspondent, I will happily oblige. I will report on the Parish Council meeting next week.
