Plans to end Rye’s weekend traffic chaos

TRAFFIC congestion on the A259 at Rye’s South Undercliff is causing misery for motorists on busy summer weekends.

Now Rye Town Council is taking active steps to end the weekend gridlock.

The council earlier voted to extend a traffic order, preventing parking between 8am – 6pm , Monday to Saturday to included Sundays as well.

But they then discovered that the order already included Sundays but that information was not included on the road signs.

The Town Council is asking local people for their views on the issue after the Highways Agency said it would amend the signage, bit only after a local consultation had been held.
