Pipers march out

THE ROBERTSON Piping and Drumming Academy Band marched in Bexhill town centre on Saturday.

Beginning on Sea Road, the band marched and piped down St Leonards Road, Parkhurst Road and along Sackville Road before turning up Western Road to finish.

The band were raising money for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Pipe Major John Anderson, drafted in from Hastings for the event, said: "It's a worthwhile cause for the great Highland Bagpipe, to bring people out and give some money to Marie Curie."

The group, who were formed in 2007, pride themselves on a holistic approach to piping, believing uniform, drill and sound are all critical to a performance.

They practice each Wednesday night from 7.30pm-9.30pm in St Mary Magdalene's Church Hall. Sessions cost 2, and are open to all.
