Oliver's Brighton hosting raffle to win Hogwarts for children's charity

The Harry Potter-themed toy and gift shop in Trafalgar Street is hoping to raise money for The Rockinghorse Charity with its raffle.

Usually owner Oliver Dall delights children by dressing up as an elf and visiting the children in hospital but due to Covid he has decided to hold a charity raffle instead.

Oliver’s Brighton looks like it has been plucked straight from Diagon Alley, here you can get your hands on a number of your favourite Harry Potter items such a chocolate frogs and magical wands and you can even try the famous Butter Beer.

He said: "Here at Oliver's Brighton, we believe every single child deserves to have a magical life. This is why we think Rockinghorse Charity is so important."

Brighton's Rockinghorse Charity has been supporting sick children and babies since 1967. It works in partnership with other local hospitals, respite centres and specialist services to fund projects which focus on improving children’s emotional and physical well-being, while providing additional support services for parents and carers.

Donate £5 to be entered in the raffle to win a details and accurate sculpture of Hogwarts.

The Hogwarts building, worth £300, is intricately sculpted and hand-painted. A hardwood display base is included.

Oliver said: "Each £5 donated will give you extra chances. For example £20 = four chances.

"It is really important that when people donate they include their first name and surname for the entry to be counted.

"We will draw the raffle in December! Prize can be collected or postage can be paid for by winner. A minimum of £500 is needed in the event the target is not reached."

During lockdown Oliver has had to change how he runs his shop, you now have to book an appointment to visit which gives you a 30 minute private shopping experience.

He said: "This change is a really lovely one because it now means you get full VIP treatment and you can take the time to chat to the magical staff who are experts on everything Harry Potter and the Wizarding World."
