Adam was attacked on the way home from the pub in Redhill in 2014 where he suffered major, life-changing injuries.

The group, who avoided jail after being convicted for their part in the "sustained and repeated" attack , set upon him as he walked home with friends after drinking in The Sun pub.

Adam said: “The night was November 13, 2014 at around 2am, me and my two friends were walking home when suddenly, I started hearing footsteps behind me, as I turned around, I could see that at least 13 guys had formed a semi circle around me.

"One of them grabbed me and I threw him in the floor however I missed one of the guys in the group and he came from behind and smacked me in the back of the head.

"Once I eventually woke up in the hospital, the police officer told me that he had been in the force for around 14 years and never seen someone so close to dying and who had survived.

"My face was full of blood from top to bottom I was totally unrecognisable and I had one of my teeth hanging out which had to be surgically reattached together.

"I was then placed into surgery where I now have a metal plate in my face.”

Adam, decided to take up kickboxing after recovering from his injuries, despite being told he would never enter a ring again.

Previously he had been a wrestler.

In his first ever kickboxing fight in 2017 Adam was beaten in the third round against a man from his own club.

Adam said: “My first experience back was great as I was always told that I never would be able to compete again and even though I wanted for a full contact fight the organisers only allowed for semi contact.

"I went on to lose the fight, however for me, it was more about proving what someone can achieve when they put their all into something.

“I fought doctors and nurses continuously over the matter for years and eventually I found someone who agreed with my point of view.”

Following his defeat Adam is looking to get back in the ring and hopes to be victorious in his next bout.

Adam said: “I'm really looking forward to the next event and this time I feel my purpose is something different then before.

"I started originally I was fighting to prove a point to others that I can still do what I enjoy doing most however now I want to prove to myself that not only can I compete but I can win.

"I'm currently awaiting clearance again from my doctors.”
