Group of travellers leave Eastbourne park

A group of travellers have left an Eastbourne park after arriving at the weekend.

More than 60 caravans and other vehicles exited Princes Park on Monday evening (June 15) after being served a Section 61 notice by police for the site to be cleared.

It comes after the group’s arrival on Sunday afternoon (March 14).

A spokesperson for Eastbourne Borough Council said, “Our Environment First team was quickly mobilised following the departure of the travellers and the area cleaned, with all refuse removed.

“The unauthorised access by the travellers was the result of a locked gate being forced open. We have secured the site again.”
