The charity supports families who have lost a young adult.

Lesley Powell-Cullingford, head of fundraising, said: “This year has been difficult for many and as Christmas approaches, we know how hard this will be for many people not seeing family and friends and remembering loved ones. We wanted to do as much as possible to bring people together when they are apart at this time of year.

“To receive a card is special and in these uncertain times when families can’t be together what better way to show you care. We want to create showers of cards to spread the love of Christmas.”

People are being asked to donate £5 and send five cards to make someone feel special and loved.

The charity is also organising The Memory Mile Virtual Walk. Participants are encouraged to walk as many as miles as they like in memory of their loved one. The event is suitable for adults and children and will take place between November 27 and December 13.

To mark the end of the Memory Walk, the charity will hold Lights of Love, where families will light lanterns and post their pictures on the You Raise Me Up Facebook page @youraisemeupcharity. The memory lanterns will be lit across town between 5pm to 9pm on December 13. Visit www.youraisemeup.co.uk.
