Bognor Regis firefighting pair to take on 58 mile pier to pier challenge

Two firefighters from Bognor Regis fire station are preparing to walk 58 miles from Bognor pier to Brighton pier and back in support of St Barnabas House.

Jordan O’Hara, who lives in East Preston, and Mollie Bennett, who lives in Littlehampton, plan to complete the challenge wearing full firefighting kit and carrying breathing apparatus.

Jordan said they had been training hard and hope to finish the walk in 20 hours, adding: “It’s definitely going to be tough.”

She was inspired to raise funds for the hospice after it cared for her beloved grandmother, who died in July.

Jordan said the staff were like angels: “My whole world got ripped apart when my nan died. They were so supportive, they have just been incredible.”

The pair have already raised £1,100 for the hospice, which Jordan said was ‘amazing’. “I’m a bit overwhelmed by all the support,” she said.

The duo will be setting off from Bognor Pier at 10am on December 2, and will be carrying buckets so that people can donate along the way.
