Potential employers need a lesson in courtesy

I too have a son who is at college and in need of part-time employment.

He has submitted numerous applications to various establishments with no response whatsoever (even if it's to say thanks but no thanks).

However, the icing on the cake has to be a recent advert he responded to seeking a kitchen assistant position.

He called the number on the advert and was asked to come in on a Saturday morning for an "interview".

I duly drove him to his interview making sure he arrived at the agreed time.

He was then asked to sit down and fill in an application form which took at least 25 minutes.

He returned the form to the manager who then proceeded to interview him standing up at the bar in full view of all the customers.

The so-called interview lasted approximately 4 minutes.

This complete farce was nothing more than a cost saving exercise, firstly by not sending out the applications beforehand and then not even having the decency to provide a separate room in which to interview candidates who have turned up, filled out all the necessary forms and above all else, made the effort.

At the end of the "interview" he was told he would have to ring in the following week to find out if he had been successful or not (again they couldn't even manage to pick up the phone to let the candidates know either way).

All credit to my son, refusing to be defeated, he did duly ring only to be told he had not been successful.

It beats me as to how this can be decided after only four minutes worth of interview.

I could not agree more with the previous correspondent on this matter, you try to install in your children manners and respect and they receive zero consideration back.

Needless to say, our family and friends will not be gracing the doorstep of this place again.
