Sevenoaks can retain trade

A FEW days ago I had to pick up something from a shop in Sevenoaks.

I expected to be in the town for under five minutes but, aware of the horrendous level locally, I cringed at the assumed cost of parking.

Because Sevenoaks is a somewhat more affluent area than Battle, I dreaded being charged at a cost even higher than Rother District Council’s burden on residents.

To my absolute surprise not only could one pay for parking for just half an hour, but the cost of doing so was - wait for it - a mere ten pence.

Clearly that town knows how to retain the trade for its retail outlets instead of trying to encourage potential customers to shop elsewhere.
