River walk spoilt

I felt I had to write in about the new Littlehampton Pier Road development.

I took my grandchildren there for a walk one evening, and although it looks very nice, I was immediately aware of an accident waiting to happen.

My grandson, who is four, went over to look at the river and I was I horrified to see that he could easily have climbed the horizontal bars straight into the water.

Surely, they should have been put in vertically, so that it was impossible for children to climb.

I did not have a relaxing walk that evening, as I was forever watching my grandson to make sure he didn’t go near the railings.

Also, what a shame they didn’t pedestrianise the road at the same time, it would have finished it off nicely.
