Pointless parish council

COULD somebody please tell me what is the point of having a parish council, at not inconsiderable expense, which holds a public meeting on an issue of some importance to the people of Angmering, which books a hall for such a meeting, but somehow manages not to advise the public in advance of the time, date and location!

How many parish councillors are there, one has to ask, and are they all asleep on the job?

It seems to me that the whole business of having parish councils who have virtually no power and clearly no competence should be re-examined with a view to winding them up.
