Olympian at sports awards

The 2014 Tanbridge Sports Awards Evening had a fantastic buzz about it even before the guest speaker was confirmed.

The school was delighted when Mark Hawkins agreed to be involved. Mark was part of Team GB at the 2012 Olympics.

“Mark is an ex THS student who has supported us by doing aspirational work with our Gifted and Talented sports students.

“I am sure that the students tonight will be more goal focused after the talk tonight.

“We have a fantastic Sports department here at school, who work hard throughout the year. Their efforts have been rewarded by the remarkable sports achievements we have celebrated tonight.”

The evening is always a great night with students and parents across all year groups returning to school for an evening dedicated to sports excellence.

What a year it has been, with Millie Lea-Clayton selected to represent South East of England at Basketball and the U13 Table Tennis team reaching the semi-finals of the National Table Tennis competition and our Junior and Senior Gymnastic teams who became county champions. Tanbridge House School also currently holds all four floor titles in Gymnastics at county level. There are too many more to achievements to mention. During the evening, five short films were shown, one to showcase each of our Sports Personality of the Year nominees. Everyone in the room then had the chance to vote after hearing about their achievements.

Bronwen Thomas a Year 9 student was voted Tanbridge House School Sports Personality of the Year 2014. Bronwen has participated in Football, Basketball, Rounders, Netball, X-Country, Dance Show, Rock Challenge, REFLEX, Badminton, Cricket and Athletics. Her dedication, however, doesn’t stop at her participation. She has developed choreography for REFLEX and Rock Challenge, captained the Cricket Team, been Vice-Captain for the Football team and is also a PE ambassador. A worthy winner.
