Iconic football match remembered at Cranleigh specialist school
Everyone gathered on the playing field beginning the commemoration with the carol Silent Night.
Laura, dressed in authentic WWI British uniform (including de-activated rifle), tossed the coin to kick off the match. German army were represented by Care staff, and Education staff the British Army.

Hide AdLearners and support staff cheered both from the side lines, while our surgery team, also in period dress, were on-hand to run onto the pitch if needed.
The final score was a draw, in keeping with the true spirit of the original game; at the end of the match poppies were placed in each of the goals followed by a minute silence in remembrance of all who those who gave their lives 100 years ago.
