Crossing out the bypass confusion

It is hoped that an acceptable answer will be provided by West Sussex County Council at its various exhibitions on September 12, 13, 16 and 17.

1. Will it still be possible to drive straight from Toddington Lane into Mill Lane?

2. If not, why can’t the new railway bridge on the new bypass be continued northwards at a sufficient height to allow vehicles to pass underneath along Toddington Lane?

3. Why is Toddington Lane level crossing to be closed and will it still be available to pedestrians? How will the community benefit from the closure?

4. Although the A284 Lyminster Road will obviously become quieter, won’t the noise of traffic become transferred to houses in Highdown Drive, Holly Drive, Toddington Park, etc, at an increased volume?

5. Is the Lyminster/Wick level crossing to be completely closed or will pedestrians be able to use it? How is it proposed for all the residents north of the railway to get to Littlehampton and Wick? Will they have to make a lengthy detour northwards to start?

6. The county council leaflet does not make it clear that ‘options 1 and 2’ are additions to the main route and not mere alternatives, not does it make clear that right and left turns will be permitted at each end of the ‘options’.

7. In detail, how is it proposed that we inhabitants of Toddington, south of the railway, will continue to be able to drive to our parish church, St Mary Magdalene, Lyminster?
