Collection support volunteer – Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust

The Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust believes the best way for people to understand and connect to wetlands is to experience them, so it brings awe-inspiring nature up close and let it do the talking.

In this role you will be assisting the collection team in all aspects of caring for the wide variety of amazing birds in their living collection at the Arundel Centre, and their varied habitats.

Tasks will include bird feeding; assisting with maintenance and cleaning; undertaking vital bird observation tasks; helping with vegetation clearing, weeding, coppicing and pruning; checking the birds are secure, gates locked and fence lines intact; repairing pond edging and cobbling; assisting with bird catches and movements; and cleaning nest boxes and winter hides, painting and maintaining them.

Country centre support volunteer – Ferring Country Centre

Ferring Country Centre is looking for volunteers to support clients and customers with learning and physical disabilities, as well as help with the running of the centre itself.

Departments where volunteers can help include: riding therapy unit, cafe, small animal farm, administration and fundraising.

It welcomes applications from persons who are willing and have the skills to help to support and develop customers to their full potential.

Child contact centre volunteer – Littlehampton Child Contact Centre

Can you spare one Saturday morning a month? Volunteers are needed to join the Littlehampton Child Contact Centre team.

The centre is a safe, friendly place where children of separated families can spend time with their non-resident parent.

They meet between 9.30am and 12.30pm at Littlehampton Baptist Church Hall on the first and third Saturday of each month.

Applications are sought from both men and women; two references and a DBS will be required.

Volunteer shop assistants – St Barnabas House

St Barnabas House hospice needs volunteers to assist at its retail shop in Wick. If you are passionate about helping to make a difference through giving your time, enjoy interacting with customers and can identify good quality clothes and items, then this is the role for you.

The role will involve: serving customers and using the computerised till to take payments for purchases; sorting donated stock, clothing and bric-a-brac; recording donor details for gift aid; using an iron or hand press appliance on donated clothes and assisting the shop manager with any other task to keep the shop running efficiently.
