The Hooe Open Group are meeting today, Friday June 8, commencing at 2pm, not 2.30pm.

This meeting we will be celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, when the members and guests will mark the occasion, with the cutting of a specially prepared iced cake, which will be cut at 3pm by Rt.Hon Greg Barker MP, who has been invited along with other local dignitaries, including Councillor’s Stuart Earl, Deirdre Williams, Pam Doods andHer Worship the Mayor of Rother, Mrs. Joanne Gadd. Ninfield Bowls Club played Winchelsea on May 30 in the Rother League Match, winning 75-57.

Wow, what a weekend we had in Ninfield and Hooe over the Jubilee weekend! The weather didn’t put people off joining in the festivities. A huge thank you to all in both villages who helped to organise the events, gave your time and those who took part! God save the Queen! Talking of Queens, Ninfield crowned their Carnival Queen at the weekend. The lucky young lady this year is Jessie Willett. Her Carnival Princesses are Annalise Gladwin and Daisy Corby. Congratulations to all.

Ninfield Flower Group are meeting on Monday June 11 in the Memorial Hall commencing at 7.30pm. They shall be welcoming Tricia Bashford with her demonstration entitled “Fragrant Fantasies”, non members welcome for a small charge of £3. which includes refreshments. Ninfield Local History Group will have a guest speaker on June 21 with ‘What Did Your Ancestors Do in The War?’. On July 19, ‘Faces and Memories’ and on September 20, ‘What the Census Tells Us’. Everyone is welcome to the meetings. There is a charge of £1 for members and £2 for non-menbers to help cover the cost of refreshments and guest speakers. Annual membership costs £10. Ninfield Memorial Hall are celebrating 80 years and are including a ‘thanksgiving’ for the Queen’s Golden Jubilee. As part of their celebrations, Christian Voices, the musical drama group, will be performing “Lost & Found”, at Ninfield Methodist Church Hall on Saturday, June 16 at 3.00pm. The play is based on the parable of the Prodigal Son. It was written by Alan Young and the songs composed by Dave Chamberlin. The performance will be in aid of the Bexhill Caring Community. On Sunday June 17, 2.30pm there will be a Service of Thanksgiving and Praise led by Revd. Ian Wales which will be followed with cream teas! You are welcome to join in with the celebrations.

Ninfield Bonfire Society’s ‘Ninfield Gig’ is back, July 28 at Elm Cottage, Marlpits Lane. Tickets can be purchased in advance from Ninfield Stores at the following prices: Adults £10 each, Children £5 each, Family (2 adults, 3 children) £25. Children 5 and under go free. Ticket prices at the gate are: Adults £12, children £6 (no family tickets).
