Hooe Open Group (Ladies Club) met for their Summer Cream Tea on the afternoon of Friday, June 13. Despite the ominous date, everyone was is a party mood. The attendance was at record levels, having both members and a handful of guests and two new members. The tea was superb, with fruit scones and a choice of homemade cakes. There were prizewinning examples, consisting of a superb chocolate sponge, a wonderful Lemon Drizzle Cake and a Mary Berry Tea Cake. It was certainly not a day to watch the calories as in addition, there was cream and a selection of jams to go with the fruit scones. As always, tea at club meetings is served on bone china plates, cups and saucers making the tea a rather special occasion. Before the tea, the members enjoyed a topical quiz, with one or two difficult questions to try to prevent a tiebreak. If you are interested in joining in a group of jolly and very friendly ladies, why not go along as a visitor, to Hooe Village Hall (Opposite the Red Lion Pub) on the second Friday afternoon of each month (August excepted) the cost is just £2, which includes the afternoon tea. There is also a bring-and-buy table, which is always stocked with bargains, and a raffle in which you can win prizes worth far more than you would normally expect, for an investment of just 50p. If you would like more details of the clubs activities, contact the Social Organiser Edna Wallis on 01424 842591 and she will be pleased to welcome you.
