New Rother campaign to target people missing out on financial help

People who might be entitled to financial help but do not realise it are to be targeted by a new Rother District Council campaign.

The council is raising awareness of the support it can provide with council tax and rental payments.

The message is being delivered amid the worsening economic downturn.

Groups being targeted include pensioners with less than 16,000 worth of capital, anyone who has been made redundant and people struggling to pay their bills.

They all might be entitled to help and are being encouraged to contact the council.

Rother is working in partnership with the Citizen's Advice Bureaux (CABs) which regularly deal with clients suffering with financial difficulties.

Council officers will be joining some of the CAB's outreach sessions in rural Rother to give advice as well. The scheme was launched under the 'My Council' banner on Tuesday (October 27).
