Netherfield

Netherfield Church: Morning Worship Sunday May 31 at 10am. Following on from my recent appeal for regular contributors to help raise funds for our Church, I am pleased to say that I have been contacted by a couple of local people who are willing to arrange a regular standing order. As previously mentioned, this does not have to be for a large amount as every little helps. Please contact [email protected] if you would be willing to arrange a small regular contribution. Thank you.

Church Clock: Winding the clock at the Church has to be done on a weekly basis and is hard, heavy work. Finding a volunteer or volunteers to do this has proved a little tricky. If anyone would consider joining a clock winding rota please contact [email protected] and we will set one up. We would like to keep the clock saying the right time! We have plans to electrify the clock winding mechanism and the first quote for this is £3,500.00!! We need to do some serious fundraising to raise this amount of money. If anyone has any ideas or would like to make a donation to this fund you can contact me on the email address above. The fund stands at £125 so far thanks to generous donations received by Pat and Derek Akers at their Diamond Anniversary celebrations

Summer Fair: Netherfield Church of England Primary School and Netherfield Pre-School held their annual Summer Fair on Saturday May 16. We were blessed with fantastic weather and a great turnout of people. PTFA have advised that they took over £2500 on the day, which is a magnificent amount for a small rural school. So a huge thank you to everyone who helped on the day, donated prizes and came along and spent their hard earned cash. We have a thriving PTFA who worked really hard putting on this event but it was well worth the effort. It was lovely to see so many former pupils on the day too.

Residents Meeting: There were approx 30 people at a Resident’s Meeting held at the Village Hall on May 20. It was hoped that people would voice their concerns about the way Netherfield was moving into the 21st Century. Amongst issues raised were the traffic calming schemes, possible loss of children’s play areas, lack of pavements, housing developments and HGV traffic through the village. Two members of Battle Town Council were in attendance. Maurice Holmes.
