MP to present senior awards

ON Friday May 6, MP Greg Barker will announce the winner of the inaugural Bexhill Senior Persons Awards. The presentation, which will be held at Ashridge Court Care Centre on Barnhorn Road, starts at 3pm and everyone is invited to enjoy a complimentary cream tea while they watch the exciting event unfold.

The event will mark the culmination of a six-week campaign and Liz Young, manager of Ashridge Court Care Centre, said: “Bexhill’s senior citizens are key contributors to the local community yet their input, which makes a big difference to other people’s lives, often goes without public recognition and we look forward to celebrating their successes at the awards.

“We wanted to offer guests something a bit more special than just tea and biscuits and we are a nation of cream tea lovers, so what better way to mark the occasion than be indulging in this popular treat. We hope lots of people will come and enjoy what we think will be an enjoyable afternoon.”
