More work due in Victoria Drive following '˜sink hole'

Following resident's fears that the '˜sink hole fix' on Victoria Drive, Bognor Regis, was already showing signs it is '˜dipping' Southern Water have confirmed further work will be carried out.

In a statement issued today, June 28, it confirmed specialist staff have visited the site after The Observer made contact.

It added: “We are pleased to say there are no concerns about our repair to the sewer, however we have identified the need for further reinstatement of the road surface and this will be carried out this week.”

Local Tom Flynn took this picture and joined others sharing their concerns on Facebook.

Among them was Zoe Lancaster, who said: “I think it is an accident waiting to happen.”

A spokesman for West Sussex County Council confirmed they are aware and monitoring the situation.

In a statement it said: “It is not a cause for concern at the moment, but if this location does sink Southern Water will carry out any remedial works necessary.”

The sinkhole originally appeared on June 6 with some reports saying it was 10ft deep.
