Police and Crime Commissioner Katy Bourne, who launched the campaign, said: “I am really pleased with the response we have seen so far, with an average of more than one application every hour since the recruitment window opened.

PCSOs are a vital part of the neighbourhood policing model that Sussex residents value so highly.

Joining one of the Force’s neighbourhood teams, PCSOs are the face of local policing.

Patrolling on foot or by bicycle, they fulfil a number of important roles - from dealing with low-level nuisance and anti-social behaviour, to forging links with the public and businesses and providing reliable support to frontline police.
