Marching band looks for recruits

Last year, the band celebrated its 20th anniversary with a successful reunion attracting many past members. Many older band members have now moved on due to work and or college commitments.

Secretary, Marie Scott said: 'We now have vacancies for boys and girls aged between eight and 21 years. No experience or musical knowledge is needed, just enthusiasm and a sense of fun.

'We have drums, glockenspiels, trumpets, cymbals and a mace.'

Alternatively you can turn up to a practice session on Thursdays from 6.30pm to 8pm and Sundays from 10am to noon at Shakespeare Hall, Fort Road, to meet the band and committee.
