Making county cleaner and greener

WEST Sussex residents who have made a huge difference to their communities and the environment are the stars of a new booklet being delivered to every home in the county.

They have told their stories to help show others how even the smallest changes in lifestyle can help make West Sussex a greener, cleaner and safer place to live.

The booklet has been produced by Better Tomorrows, an independent not-for-profit company, on behalf of West Sussex County Council.

It shows how people can get involved in everything from growing their own veg with home produced compost to becoming a waste prevention advisor or tree warden.

There are features on communities coming together to promote a series of environmental challenges - such as the village that has banned plastic carrier bags - and also a look at how businesses are becoming 'greener' and cutting their costs at the same time.

The booklet '“ 'Small Change Big Difference' '“ also looks at how local services are meeting modern challenges ranging from state of the art recycling facilities to a future that will involve harnassing waste that would have ended up in landfill and turning it into a valuable resource.
