MAJOR SEA RESCUE IN SEAFORD BAY

A MAJOR sea rescue was launched in Seaford Bay at 5pm on Saturday (June 3) after a collision between a jet-ski and a speedboat left the jet-ski rider with serious injuries.

The rear of the blue Yamaha wave runner jet-ski was damaged in the collision and the rider, a Newhaven man in his late 30s, suffered a suspected broken hip.

He was recovered from the sea and taken in the speedboat to the beach at Tidemills where the Coastguard helicopter 'IJ' airlifted him to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.

The male driver of the white speedboat who was a friend of the injured man was not hurt in the collision.

Police and Coastguard are investigating the incident and witnesses are asked to contact Seaford Police.
