Live grenade found in Worthing

A LIVE hand grenade was discovered at the building site of the old Eardley Hotel on Worthing seafront on Monday.

The device, which is believed to have been from the 1940s, was discovered by builders in the cellar as they were digging trenches for the footings of the new building.

Police cordoned off the area along the seafront from the junction of Marine Parade and Steyne Gardens to Splash Point.
