Jacob `had pillow put over his head'

TRAGIC 10-year-old Jacob Wragg was suffocated, probably by a pillow, an inquest was told on Tuesday.

The terminally ill boy, who's death caught the attention of the world's media after his father, Andy, was arrested for murder, died on July 25 this year.

Police and the ambulance service were called to the Wragg's home in Henty Close, Worthing, on the evening of July 24 and Jacob, who suffered from Hunter's Syndrome, was taken to Worthing Hospital. Doctors confirmed he had died at 12.02am.

A post mortem examination was carried out that day by Dr Peter Jerreat, the inquest at Worthing Hospital was told on Tuesday afternoon.

Tearful mother Mary Wragg attended the inquest, which was adjourned until after court proceedings.

Mrs Wragg heard that Dr Jerreat concluded Jacob died from: "asphyxia, consistent with pillow suffocation in a child with advance Hunter's Syndrome."

Originally, Mrs Wragg was arrested along with her husband, but she was released without charge.

Andrew Wragg is due to appear at Lewes Crown Court for a plea and directions hearing next Friday.
