Is water company doing enough to protect Rye?
SOUTHERN Water has come under fire for not doing enough to protect Rye from flooding.
Rye emergency response group REACT has criticised the water company for its poor communications and co-operation and says it has serious concerns about the state of the Marley Road sewage pump, which it says is a ‘key asset’ in preventing areas of Tilling Green from flooding.
Colonel Anthony Kimber, who leads the REACT group, says: “In dealing with professional bodies about flood risks, we are finding sewage issues the biggest challenge.
