Inquest into Eastbourne murder victim to be held

Emma Crowhurst died of head injuries after being found on a pavement in Chawbrook Road near Eastbourne Fire Station on Sunday April 26 2015.

Despite numerous appeals and extensive police enquiries, nobody has ever been charged in connection with the 36-year-old’s death, which police treated as murder.

Her inquest will be held at Eastbourne Town Hall on Thursday March 15.

Police believe Emma, who lived in Albion Road, may have been involved in an argument just before midnight on the night she was found as neighbours heard a heated discussion between a man and a woman.

She had gone out to fetch her cats but was discovered close to the junction with Dudley Road and Havelock Road and was rushed to Eastbourne DGH and later to Hurstwood Park Hospital at Haywards Heath.

Her condition worsened over the following days and she died on Monday May 11.

Emma’s family said she was loved by her friends and family and had a heart of gold.

They said at the time her death was a massive, irreplaceable loss and wanted the person responsible brought to justice.
