Saturday 17 is the first Church Market of 2012 11.00am - 2.00pm in All Saints. Coffee, tea, cakes light lunches and lots to buy including home made goodies. The Church is now close to paying off the loan which it had to raise for its heating system, and anything raised at this pleasant event goes for that cost.

Janet Thompson will be there to take orders for Easter Lilies. Each of these beautiful flowers can be given by you in memory of a loved one, and in the Church a List of Dedications will be placed. Janet has to have orders by 17 March so you can also phone her on 01797 222891. The lilies are £2 a stem.

Mothering Sunday 18 March. Everyone is welcome to the service which starts at 10.30. It is a Family Communion when posies of flowers will be available for children to give to their Mums during this shortened service. The ‘’Robin Hood’’ and the ‘’Queen’s Head’’ will be very busy welcoming families for meals many from outside the village to celebrate

Quiz One- Saturday 17 Memorial Hall in aid of Stoolball Club. This like the other monthly quizzes may be already fully booked, Check with Stuart Baker.

Quiz Two-Tuesday 20 March 7.30 Robin Hood in aid of Robin Hood Bonfire Society. £5 a head and that includes a Fish and Chips supper.. Phone Sue 01424 814277 to book a table.

At its February meeting Icklesham Parish Council discussed the following items concerning Icklesham Ward

the condition of the Gouldhurst Green bus shelter

lighting in the Memorial Hall/Pavilion car park

the possible positions of the facilities for children and teenagers on the Recreation Ground

a newsletter for the 4 wards giving details of Parish Council activities

the cost of improving the drainage of the Recreation Ground

the planning of the Icklesham Big Lunch on 4 June

Minutes of this February meeting were discussed at the meeting on 12 March and the approved minutes will be displayed on the Parish Council notice boards.

A new notice board at the entrance to the Recreation Ground is attracting interest especially the Active Ambling Project. This initiative has produced 4 leaflets each encouraging us to use our local footpaths. The 4 walks are of varying distances. Three are circular. 0ne of 4 1/2 miles and starts and finishes at Broad Street and goes through Lower Snailham and the Brede Valley. There is a 5 mile circular with the ‘’Queen’s Head’’ being the start and finish. Icklesham Primary School has promoted a shorter 2 1/2 mile circular suitable for younger walkers. The longest walk is from Icklesham to Rye windmill but we do have an hourly bus service to bring us back.

The council is also producing leaflets for Rye Harbour walks. If you have a computer the leaflets can be printed off the web site.

Keeping you informed about road closures and delays has not been easy as timing can not be as stated. However the Station Road Level Crossing is due to be closed 23.00 to 06.00 14 -16 March as inspection for corrosion.
