Horsham’s Wilkinsons evacuated after fire scare

The incident was reported at around 2.30pm.

A spokesperson for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said crews searched the building but there was no sign of a fire.

Swan Walk shopping centre remained open but the entrance to the Wilkinsons store was cordoned off.

The alarm saw the roof of the centre open and teams reacted quickly to cover up the town’s Elephantastic display to protect the model elephants.
