Hooe farm shop to close

Owner Janet Redman has run the business for five years but decided she has had enough.

Janet said: "I feel relieved we have made the decision to close. It has been such a struggle all this year since Christmas - trade has been dying off. July I was hoping would be a good month but it has been awful. I think the last two summers' bad weather hasn't helped.

"The whole economic situation has definitely not helped business, and people are not going out for little drives anymore. It is a great shame for Hooe - that is it, now. Nobody wants to take it over, so Hooe won't have a little shop any more."

Janet plans to do "not very much".

"I just want to get my life back, and not have the responsibility and committment of the shop...just enjoy my life a bit really."

She invites anyone interested to visit the shop to look round - meanwhile she has cut prices in the hope of selling off all the stock before closing.
