Guides enjoy fair with a green theme

COLOURING flowers, decorating flower pots, and even naming The Gnome - these were all ways to have fun and win prizes at the green-themed Guides' spring fair.

Girls aged five and over had the chance to take part in different games and competitions including making their own miniature garden in an ice cream container.

One Brownie said: “I loved making the little garden,” while another particularly enjoyed the task of sifting through sand to find The Gnome’s money.

The adults present at the fair at the Guide HQ in London Road were able to purchase plants, cakes and greetings cards and take part in various gardening-based tombolas.

Division commisioner Carolyn Lapping said: “Thanks to all who suported this event, we raised nearly £200, which is great.

“Also a big thanks to all who helped, they worked very hard.”

All proceeds go to support local Guides, Brownies, Rainbows and Senior Sections.
