Great day of fun for Rustington Brownies

RUSTINGTON Brownies joined 3,000 others from across the region to mark the 100th anniversary of the movement formed by Lord Baden-Powell.

The girls, aged seven to ten, spent the weekend at Butlins, in Bognor Regis, as part of the centenary celebrations.

Leader of the 2nd Rustington Brownies, Michelle Quiggan, said: “We’re only just recovering from it. It was an incredible event. It’s not often the girls get to see so many Brownies together, so this was really special.”

An 8ft-wide birthday cake with 100 candles was constructed specially for the occasion, having been built for using about 55,000 Lego bricks.

Michelle added: “We took the whole place over. It was a great weekend.”
