Great Dane too big for vet's scales

WHEN Christie McMahon realised Sabbi the Great Dane was too big for weighing at the vets, she came up with a novel way to get the dog on the scales.

She took the giant pooch to GSG Cargo, at Northbrook Business Park, Worthing, where it was weighed on the industrial-sized scales.

Christie, 52, of Arundel Road, Worthing, volunteers as a foster carer for Daneline International, a charity which rescues and rehomes Great Danes.

She said: "Fostered Danes can be nervous, especially in a veterinary surgery, and the scales are not always ideally suited to a giant breed.

"So I had to come up with something else and then I thought of the cargo firm I use for my own business packages."

Sabbi, who weighed in at 60kg, around nine stone five pounds, has now found a new home with a couple in Barnsley, Yorkshire.
