We all know nature, fresh air and green spaces are good for us, so St Catherine’s are asking people to become a blooming hero by hosting a garden themed fundraiser.

Whether people are seasoned gardeners, or just discovering the joys of being green fingered, the hospice has a range of ways people can support them:

Open it to your neighbours and the local community in return for a donation to support St Catherine’s. Boost your fundraising further by offering simple refreshments and donating the profit.

Sell plants and produce

Organise a plant or produce sale with different flowers, herbs, vegetables and succulents. You could host a sale from your garden, at local markets, community centres, or even online.

Host a garden party

Make the most of the season and invite your family and friends to a garden party for a donation. Your party can be as small or big as you like. Winning fundraising ideas include: party games, bake sales, raffles or scavenger hunts.

Challenge your friends

Challenge others to a growing competition. It could be competing for the tallest sunflower, biggest marrow or who can keep their cactus alive the longest. Entry donations can be split between the winner and St Catherine’s.

Share your skills

Have you got a special skill that you could share? Why not lead a workshop for your less green-fingered friends? It could be anything from flower arranging to growing produce through the seasons.

Seedling starter kits

Put together seedling starter kits with everything someone needs to grow a specific plant. These kits can be sold at events or online, and they make excellent gifts for gardeners of all levels.

Nicky Ifould, Head of Fundraising at St Catherine’s said, “It costs around £10 million to run our hospice each year but less than a third of this comes from the NHS. The rest is raised through the support and generosity of people in our local community. We know fundraising can sometimes seem daunting but there’s so many local people already doing great things in their garden, that we’d like to encourage them to host a garden themed fundraiser for us. By hosting a fundraiser, you’ll be supporting other families through a difficult time and making a huge difference when it matters most. We’re so grateful to anyone who supports us and we’re here to help with your fundraising.
