Fish Lane repairs put back

Repairs to the worst road in Aldwick have been put back indefinitely.

Hopes had been raised that the uneven surface along Fish Lane would soon be replaced.

But a cash crunch at West Sussex County Council means all its spending projects are being reviewed.

The bad news was given by the council's area highways manager, Tracey Webb.

She told parish, district and county councillors the utility works which had held up the resurfacing in recent months had been largely completed. But another setback had hit the planned improvements.

"All the schemes that were due to be done in the later part of the year have been put on hold to be assessed," she said. "I don't have a date for Fish Lane."

Paul Wells, a county, district and parish councillor, said: "Fish Lane has been an issue for many, many months.

"I would ask that this particular road is brought forward for more urgent attention because of the state of it."
