Firefighters save bin-blaze factory

A FACTORY in Worthing was "minutes" from disaster after firebugs set light to rubbish stacked outside.

Worthing firefighters tackled the blaze, outside an engineering company in Ivy Arch Road, after being alerted by passers-by as they attended a minor tree fire nearby at 2am on Thursday.

Crew Manager Mike Barnard, from Worthing Fire Station, said: "If that hadn't been spotted, another couple of minutes and it would have been through the window and into the building.

He said police were studying CCTV footage to try and identify those responsible and urged businesses to stack rubbish away from their buildings.
