Firefighters rescue woman from flat

FIREFIGHTERS rescued a woman from her smoke filled flat in Tarring after a cooking pan caught fire in her kitchen.

She raised the alarm from the lounge room of her first floor flat but then the door got stuck and she found herself trapped.

Three engines from Worthing fire station were at the scene, in Rectory Road, within minutes of receiving the call just after 2pm on Monday, and firefighters wearing breathing masks entered the property and led her to safety.

They said the woman was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation but was not hurt.
